Copyright and Content Use Notice
MAPS (Music Activity & Pedagogical Solutions) is an educational resource platform designed to support music educators by organizing, categorizing, translating, adapting, and contextualizing teaching activities for practical classroom use. Content on this website comes from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, activities originally created by the MAPS team, publicly available online resources, published educational materials, activities learned from teachers, activities shared by colleagues, traditional teaching practices, and other activities that have circulated within music education communities over time.
Content Sources and Attribution
We respect the intellectual property rights of authors, educators, publishers, and other rights holders. When a source can be reasonably identified, we make every effort to provide appropriate attribution, including the author, publication, website, link, or other available reference information.
However, some teaching activities have been shared, used, and adapted by many educators over an extended period of time, making it difficult or impossible to determine their original source. In such cases, we aim to describe the source as accurately as possible—for example, as “Learned from a Teacher,” “Traditional Activity,” “Shared by a Colleague,” or “Source Unknown”—rather than speculate about or incorrectly identify an original source.
The fact that material is publicly accessible online does not necessarily mean that it is in the public domain or free from copyright protection. MAPS makes reasonable efforts to document relevant source and rights information based on the information available to us.
MAPS may reorganize, translate, structure, expand, clarify, or adapt certain materials to make them more useful in specific teaching contexts. Such editorial or instructional work does not mean that MAPS claims ownership of the underlying third-party material. When content originates from a third party, the applicable rights remain with the original author, publisher, or other lawful rights holder.
For activities, written materials, instructional explanations, and other original content created by the MAPS team and clearly identified as MAPS original content, applicable rights are retained by MAPS or the relevant creator to the extent provided by law. Except for the educational uses permitted under this Notice, substantial copying, republication, redistribution, or commercial use of such content may require prior permission.
Use of Content
This website is intended primarily for the organization and sharing of music education resources, professional exchange, and teaching reference.
MAPS welcomes music educators to use activities from this website for personal lesson planning, classroom teaching, and other reasonable non-commercial educational purposes. Where appropriate, we encourage users to acknowledge MAPS as well as any original sources or references identified on the relevant activity page.
Without appropriate authorization, users should not reproduce substantial portions of MAPS content, systematically download website content, republish or sell MAPS materials, create a mirror or duplicate database, or redistribute MAPS-organized content as a standalone commercial resource.
Images, Videos, and Other Media
Images, videos, musical examples, external links, and other media materials appearing on this website may be subject to copyright or usage terms that differ from those applicable to the written activity descriptions.
Unless otherwise stated, users should not assume that permission to use or adapt a teaching activity automatically extends to third-party media that is included, displayed, embedded, or linked within that activity.
For content hosted on or linked to third-party websites or platforms, copyright, access requirements, and terms of use are governed by the applicable third party.
