Terms of Use
使用条款
Last Updated: September 27, 2026
Welcome to MAPS (Music Activity & Pedagogical Solutions, referred to in these Terms as “MAPS,” “we,” “us,” or “the Platform”). These Terms of Use apply when you access or use the MAPS website, database, account features, saving and organization tools, submission features, and other related services that MAPS currently provides or may provide in the future.
By accessing or using MAPS, you agree to these Terms and to any other policies that apply to the features you use, including our Privacy Policy, Copyright and Content Use Notice, and Submission Terms where applicable. If you do not agree, please stop using the relevant services.
1. Nature and Purpose of MAPS
MAPS is a platform for music educators and related users to organize, search, browse, share, save, and use teaching activities and educational resources. Content on MAPS may include:
- teaching activities and activity descriptions;
- teaching suggestions, variations, and preparation guidance;
- categories, tags, and search information;
- images, videos, and links to external media;
- score examples and references;
- user-submitted content; and
- other information and resources related to music education.
MAPS is intended primarily for lesson planning, teaching inspiration, resource discovery, professional exchange, instructional reference, and other reasonable educational uses. MAPS is not a substitute for a teacher's professional judgment.
2. Educational Content and Professional Judgment
Activities and teaching suggestions on MAPS may be designed for different ages, skill levels, learning goals, teaching settings, course types, student needs, and cultural or educational contexts. MAPS cannot guarantee that any activity will be appropriate for every student, classroom, or teaching situation.
When using MAPS content in practice, you are responsible for evaluating, adapting, and implementing it appropriately. Activities involving physical movement, playing posture, health, safety, psychological considerations, special educational needs, or other areas requiring additional professional judgment should be used with suitable professional and safety precautions.
3. Accuracy and Completeness
MAPS makes reasonable efforts to improve the accuracy, clarity, and usefulness of its content. However, teaching activities may come from many sources and may have been circulated, organized, translated, adapted, or contextualized over time. We therefore do not guarantee that all content will always be completely accurate, error-free, complete, current, or suitable for every situation.
Content may be revised, updated, supplemented, reclassified, corrected, or removed. If you notice an error, source concern, attribution issue, or other problem, you are welcome to contact us.
4. Accounts and Authentication
Some MAPS features require sign-in. MAPS currently uses email one-time passcodes (Email OTP) as its primary authentication method and relies on Supabase for account and session-related infrastructure. MAPS does not currently require a dedicated password.
You are responsible for providing valid account information, protecting access to your account, and contacting us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity reasonably attributable to your account.
When reasonably necessary, MAPS may take account-protection measures such as requiring re-verification, limiting certain features, suspending account access, or taking other appropriate security steps.
MAPS may also offer other reasonable and secure authentication methods in the future, including, for example, email and user-created passwords, third-party authentication services, or other account verification methods.
5. Saved Activities, Collections, and My Contributions
5.1 Saved Activities and Collections
MAPS may allow you to save Activities, create Collections, and organize teaching resources for personal use. Some Saved Activities for users who are not signed in may be stored only in the local browser or device. Clearing browser data, changing devices or browsers, using private/incognito mode, or device failure may cause locally stored data to become unavailable.
For signed-in users, Saved Activities, Collections, and related associations may be synchronized through MAPS database services. Although MAPS takes reasonable steps to maintain these services, we cannot guarantee that such data will never be lost, delayed, fail to synchronize, or be affected by technical errors.
5.2 My Contributions
If you submit an activity while signed in, the submission may be linked to your MAPS account and appear in My Contributions. My Contributions is currently designed primarily to let you view submissions linked to your account, including submission dates, review status, and selected information you previously submitted.
If you submit while signed out, the submission is still valid and both name and email remain required. However, the submission will not automatically become linked to an account simply because you later sign in with the same name or email address. MAPS does not currently merge earlier submissions into an account solely on the basis of a matching name or email address.
My Contributions is currently read-only. Unless MAPS later provides additional functionality, users cannot use it to change review status, delete submissions, replace supporting materials, or view another user's submissions.
6. Acceptable Use
You may use MAPS for reasonable educational, teaching, and professional purposes. You may not use MAPS in a way that harms the Platform, other users, or third parties. Unless properly authorized, you may not:
- gain unlawful access to MAPS systems, databases, or protected resources;
- attempt to bypass authentication, permissions, Row Level Security, security restrictions, or other access controls;
- attack the website or related infrastructure;
- upload viruses, malicious code, or other harmful content;
- use automated tools for unreasonable large-scale scraping, bulk downloading, or high-frequency requests;
- systematically copy, mirror, or reconstruct the MAPS database;
- interfere with the normal operation of the site, Edge Functions, Storage, authentication, or other services;
- impersonate another person or organization;
- submit false, fraudulent, or clearly misleading information;
- use MAPS for unlawful activity; or
- infringe another person's copyright, privacy, or other legal rights.
MAPS may take reasonable steps to protect the Platform, database, and technical infrastructure from misuse.
7. Intellectual Property and Content Use
MAPS may contain original MAPS content, third-party content, adapted or organized materials, traditional teaching activities, user submissions, and external links or media. Different content may be subject to different copyright and use conditions.
For specific rules about sources, attribution, third-party rights, MAPS original content, teaching use, images, video, and other media, please review the Copyright and Content Use Notice. Your use of MAPS content must also comply with applicable law and relevant third-party rights.
8. User Submissions
MAPS allows users to submit teaching activities, text, images, links, source information, and other materials through Submit an Activity or similar features. You may submit while signed in or signed out, but a name and email address are required in either case.
If you submit content, the Submission Terms also apply. Those terms may address your right to submit the materials, source and attribution requirements, MAPS's ability to edit and organize submissions, publication permissions, content changes or removal, copyright responsibility, and other submission-related rights and obligations.
MAPS may decide whether to accept, edit, modify, hold, request revisions to, decline, publish, or remove submitted content. Submission does not guarantee acceptance, inclusion, or publication.
8.1 Name and Certificate of Inclusion
The name you provide with a submission may be used on a MAPS Certificate of Inclusion if the activity is accepted and officially included in MAPS. Having or not having a MAPS account does not determine whether a submission is valid or eligible for a Certificate of Inclusion.
Please provide the name you would like MAPS to use for a certificate or formal contributor credit. If a name needs to be corrected, MAPS may ask the contributor to confirm the change by email or another reasonable method.
8.2 Supporting Images and Links
MAPS currently allows contributors to include a supporting link and to upload a limited number of supporting images. At present, each submission may include up to three JPG, PNG, or WEBP images, with a maximum size of 10MB per image. MAPS may adjust these limits for technical, security, or operational reasons.
Supporting images may be stored in private storage and made available through time-limited links for MAPS team review or, where a submission is linked to a signed-in account, for that contributor to view. Time-limited links may expire, and MAPS does not guarantee that they will remain permanently available.
9. Responsibility for Submitted Content
You are responsible for making reasonable efforts to ensure that submitted content does not intentionally contain false information, infringe third-party intellectual property or privacy rights, include student personal information without appropriate authorization, contain unlawful, harmful, or clearly inappropriate material, or mislead MAPS about the source, author, or permission status of the material.
If you know that an item comes from someone else, you should provide accurate source and attribution information whenever reasonably possible. MAPS may ask you to provide additional source information, correct information, explain permissions, or revise submitted content.
10. Submission Review, Status, and Team Communication
After submission, MAPS may review, organize, edit, verify sources, or otherwise process the material as reasonably necessary. A submission may move through internal review statuses such as submitted, under_review, needs_revision, accepted, declined, or published.
MAPS may contact contributors by email to request additional information, explain revision requests, communicate review outcomes, or address matters related to inclusion. The MAPS team may use a human-readable submission reference such as MAPS-SUB-000001 for internal workflow purposes. That reference does not replace any rights or obligations that apply between the contributor and MAPS.
11. Third-Party Links and Content
MAPS may include links to Google Drive, YouTube, publishers, educational institutions, teacher websites, online resources, video platforms, external articles, and other third-party services.
Those resources are provided and controlled by the relevant third parties. MAPS does not control their content, availability, accuracy, privacy practices, terms, security, or copyright policies. Providing a link does not necessarily mean that MAPS endorses, recommends, guarantees, or is affiliated with the third party. You should review the third party's own terms and policies when you access an external resource.
12. Third-Party Technology Services
MAPS relies on third-party technology services to operate the Platform. Current providers include Supabase, Vercel, and Resend.
- Supabase: authentication, database services, Saved Activities, Collections, analytics, visitor profiles, submission records, My Contributions, Storage, Edge Functions, and related backend functionality;
- Vercel: website hosting, deployment, and web infrastructure; and
- Resend: authentication and other necessary functional emails, including internal submission-notification emails.
MAPS cannot fully control the continued availability of third-party services. Some features may be temporarily unavailable because of third-party outages, maintenance, network problems, technical updates, or other circumstances outside MAPS's reasonable control.
13. Analytics, Visitor/Session Identifiers, and Usage Data
MAPS may use limited usage data to understand how the site is used and to improve search, taxonomy, navigation, and the overall experience. This information may include searches, filters, Activity views, save/unsave actions, sharing an Activity, Collection actions, visitor identifiers, session identifiers, and limited events such as session_start.
These identifiers are used primarily to understand overall usage patterns and are not intended to identify users directly by name. For details about the information processed, where it is stored, and how it is handled, please review the Privacy Policy. MAPS does not currently use this behavioral data for targeted advertising and does not sell personal information.
14. AI and Future Technology Features
MAPS may introduce AI-assisted search, an AI Assistant, recommendations, automated classification, or other intelligent features in the future. AI or automated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, erroneous, or unsuitable for a particular teaching context. You should not rely on AI output as a substitute for your own professional teaching judgment.
If a new feature involves materially different data practices, MAPS may update the Privacy Policy, these Terms, or provide additional feature-specific notice.
15. Changes to the Website and Services
MAPS is an evolving platform. We may add, modify, or remove features, change taxonomy or activity structures, adjust pages, update the database, modify account, submission, search, or other functionality, or otherwise change parts of the Platform. MAPS does not guarantee that any specific feature will remain available indefinitely.
We may also suspend or discontinue part or all of the service for maintenance, security, legal, technical, project, or other reasonable reasons.
16. Account Restrictions, Suspension, and Termination
If MAPS reasonably believes that a user has materially violated these Terms, abused Platform features, attempted to attack the system, systematically scraped the database, infringed others' rights, submitted clearly unlawful or harmful material, or created a real risk to MAPS, users, or third parties, MAPS may take reasonable action.
That action may include removing relevant content, limiting features, suspending an account, terminating account access, or blocking certain technical access. Where appropriate, we may allow the user to contact us and explain the situation.
17. Service Provided "As Is"
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MAPS and its content and services are provided "as is" and "as available."
MAPS does not guarantee that the site will always be error-free or uninterrupted, that all content will be completely accurate, that every activity will fit every teaching context, that all external links will remain available, that all data will never be lost, that video or media will always play successfully, or that use of MAPS will produce any particular result.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MAPS, its team members, contributors, and related persons are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar losses arising from use of or inability to use MAPS.
This may include losses related to site interruptions, data loss, content errors, third-party websites or services, implementation of teaching activities, unavailable external media, AI or automated outputs, or other circumstances beyond MAPS's reasonable control.
You remain responsible for using your own professional judgment when deciding how to use teaching resources from MAPS. Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited.
19. Indemnification
If your violation of these Terms, unlawful use of MAPS, infringement of third-party rights, or submission of infringing, unlawful, or unauthorized material causes MAPS to face a third-party claim, reasonable legal expense, or other loss, you may be responsible for the resulting reasonable losses to the extent permitted by applicable law.
This section applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
20. Privacy
Your use of MAPS is also governed by the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what information MAPS may collect, how it is used and protected, which third-party services are involved, how account, analytics, submission, and My Contributions data may be handled, and what choices or rights may be available to users.
21. Copyright Concerns
If you believe that content on MAPS infringes your copyright, contains inaccurate attribution, has incorrect source information, or raises another intellectual-property concern, please contact us in accordance with the Copyright and Content Use Notice.

22. Changes to These Terms
MAPS may update these Terms as the Platform, legal requirements, content policies, submission practices, technical architecture, or operations change. The updated version will be posted on the MAPS website with a revised "Last Updated" date.
Continued use of MAPS may be subject to the version of the Terms then in effect. If a change could materially affect user rights, we may provide additional notice where appropriate.
23. Severability and No Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unenforceable, or inapplicable, it will be limited or adjusted only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
If MAPS does not immediately enforce a right under these Terms in a particular situation, that does not mean MAPS permanently waives that right.
24. Entire Agreement, Governing Law, and Disputes
These Terms, together with the policies expressly referenced by MAPS, form important rules governing your use of the Platform. Depending on the feature you use, the Privacy Policy, Copyright and Content Use Notice, Submission Terms, or other feature-specific notices may also apply.
If feature-specific terms conflict with these Terms, the feature-specific terms will generally control for that feature unless otherwise stated.
These Terms and your use of MAPS will be interpreted, to the extent permitted by applicable law, under the law applicable to the MAPS operating entity and its principal place of operation. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable rights granted to you by the law of your country or region.
If a dispute arises in connection with MAPS or these Terms, we encourage you to contact us first at musicactivityps@gmail.com so that we can try to resolve the matter informally. As the organizational structure and operating entity of MAPS become more clearly established, we may update the governing-law, venue, or dispute-resolution provisions.
