Conference Overview

The 3rd Collaborative Piano Festival at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music (ZJCM) will take place October 24–27, 2026, in Hangzhou. The 2026 event focuses specifically on collaboration between piano and voice under the theme “The Intersection of the Concrete and the Abstract,” examining the relationship between technical precision and artistic expression in vocal collaborative piano as well as the training and development of artistic coaching and collaborative piano.

The program includes four concert-series events, one academic symposium, and twelve expert masterclasses and lectures. Participants include specialists in artistic coaching from China and abroad, university faculty in related areas, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students, and professional colleagues.

Why Attend

The festival combines performance, academic discussion, masterclass study, and professional training, making it particularly relevant to students and early-career musicians in Collaborative Piano, Artistic Coaching, Vocal Collaboration, and Piano Performance. The 2026 focus on vocal collaboration addresses topics such as language and poetic meaning, character and dramatic context, rhythmic coordination and shared breathing, musical structure, harmonic color, atmosphere, and emotional communication.

Submission & Participation Opportunities

General participants should submit the event registration form through the official mini-program by October 18, 2026. There is no registration fee; participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meals.

The expert masterclasses recruit participants nationally. Twelve places are available for Western classical vocal coaching and twelve for Chinese vocal coaching. Eligible applicants include bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students and early-career faculty in artistic coaching, collaborative piano, piano performance, and related areas. Applicants must submit the masterclass application form and videos of two collaborative works with a singer, totaling approximately ten minutes. The masterclass application deadline is October 15, 2026, at midnight. No coaching fee is charged; travel and lodging are self-funded.
