Conference Overview
The Piano Conference: NCKP is a professional conference centered on piano teaching and learning and is presented by the Frances Clark Center. It brings together piano teachers, piano pedagogy scholars, researchers, performers, and teacher educators. Conference topics include piano pedagogy, group piano, class piano, repertoire and teaching materials, technology, teacher education, research, and broader developments in the field of piano teaching.
Why Attend
For students and early-career teachers working in piano pedagogy, class piano, group piano, private piano teaching, or keyboard studies, NCKP offers a particularly focused professional environment. Because its programming is concentrated on piano teaching, participants can develop a clearer understanding of current questions, instructional approaches, research, and professional trends within the field. Teaching demonstrations, presentations, research sessions, and professional discussions also allow emerging teachers to examine how colleagues address technique, repertoire, curriculum design, student development, and instructional technology. NCKP also has a strong professional-community dimension, creating opportunities to meet colleagues, researchers, and teacher educators and to develop professional relationships within the piano-teaching field.
Submission & Participation Opportunities
NCKP offers multiple forms of professional participation related to piano teaching, research, and practice, including presentations, teaching demonstrations, research sessions, interactive sessions, posters, and other professional projects. For students and early-career teachers in piano pedagogy, class piano, group piano, and private piano teaching, these formats can provide opportunities to present teaching practices, research findings, curriculum projects, or other work of professional relevance. Specific themes, presentation formats, submission requirements, and deadlines should be confirmed in the current Call for Proposals.
